Health and Safety

ioshThe health, safety and welfare of our employees is of utmost important to us. A safe working environment and good health and safety practice is vital in ensuring a happy, healthy work force and improves productivity by minimising the risk of accidents and injuries which lead to time off work. All our employees are inducted in health and safety in the following ways:
1) They are made familiar with their health and safety responsibilities, the location of our health and safety files, msds (manufacturers safety data sheets) and coshh (control of substances hazardous to health) related data and who to contact regarding all health and safety related issues.
2) They agree to wear the appropriate Personal protective equipment (PPE) relevant to the tasks they are assigned at all times and are made aware of procedures for the care and replacement of their PPE.
3) The are made familiar with the manual handling of loads. 4) They are only allowed to use equipment they have been trained on which is recorded by us in our training records and employee skills matrix documents.
4) They have read and understood the risk assessments and method statements for their work.
5) They have read and understood the coshh (control of substances hazardous to health) assessments relevant to their work.
6) They are made familiar with accident reporting procedures and the location of first aid boxes.
7) They are informed of the company policy for the safe storage, handling and use of fuels.
8) Employees are issued with our company health and safety handbook.
9) They are made familiar with the site specific risk assessments for where they will be working and are given site briefings on those grounds.

 Our employees are certified by IOSH – The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health in Managing Safety and Working Safely. They are both NVQ ( National Vocational Qualification) and National Test Council certified in a variety of different fields including the use of herbicides and pesticides and land based machinery.

 

MONITORING AND REPORTING

reporting iconWe continually monitor all our customers grounds and properties in the following ways:
1) For changes or breaches in health and safety practice
 2) For wildlife, pests and plant diseases  
3) For damage to buildings externally and internally, street lighting and signage, road surfaces, drains, fences and ironworks etc.  
We report our findings in the following ways:
1) Our customers are immediately informed of any issues we detect on their grounds  
2) Dependant on the issue the relevant authority is notified  
3) Our findings are recorded by us under health and safety law
